Start with Google searches like “[your industry] + forum” or “[your target audience] + discussion board.” Check your competitors’ backlink profiles using Ahrefs or Semrush to see where they’re active. Look for forums mentioned in industry blogs or resource roundups.
Focus on these quality indicators-
- Recent posts (within the last week)
- Active moderation (spam gets removed quickly)

Effective forum posting for SEO requires a strategic approach that balances valuable community contribution with your marketing objectives.
Success comes from understanding each forum’s culture, providing genuine help to other members, and naturally incorporating your expertise and resources into discussions.
Here’s the exact process I use to submit to forums that always works-
Week 1: Strategic Forum Research (Phase 1)
Step 1: Find the forums you want to target
- Type in “[your industry] + forum 2025” on Google.
- Use Ahrefs or SEMrush to look at your competitors’ backlinks.
- Check out industry blogs for links to forums.
- Get suggestions for forums from coworkers

For each possible forum, think about-
- Activity level- posts made in the last seven days
- Member engagement means comments and discussions, not just spam.
- Quality of moderation, spam is quickly removed
- Domain authority, use SEO tools to check DA/DR.
- Audience relevance- Your ideal customers should be asking questions.
Step 3: Make a portfolio for your forum
- Choose a total of 15 to 20 forums
- 3–5 general forums with a lot of authority (Reddit, Quora)
