I would boot up my keyword tool every morning and scavenge around among those elusive magic high-volume words. I would litter my posts like those words were seasoning, digital marketing, content strategy, etc., presuming I was being tricky.
This is when I would see my so-called perfectly optimized articles hide in the depths of page 3 while some arbitrary blog article with none of the keywords would luxuriate in the top pages.
It just did not make sense at all.
It was at this point that I realized the semantic SEO and knew what it was all about. I was in my local coffee shop (again) when I watched my friend Lisa go through a search to find the best running shoes for flat feet and I make a semantic SEO checklist infographic for you.

This is when I found myself thinking: Google no longer matches keywords. It knows context, intent, and the relations to the concepts. It has become downright prophetic at interpreting between what individuals really desire.
I did change my approach altogether. I also began pursuing the purpose of a search rather than the quantity. I started targeting specific problems that have an emotion attached rather than targeting general topics.
The results? In 8 months, my organic traffic levels improved by 340 percent. Not because I figured out how to game the system, but because I simply have an insight into how search actually works in 2025.
